A spectacular performance of High School Musical by pupils bidding a fond farewell to Upton Juniors in Broadstairs this summer raised the roof.

The final curtain for the Year 6 group was a dazzling glitzy high-energy show that wowed families, fellow pupils, staff and guests at the Stage By The Sea at Dreamland, Margate.

After weeks of dedicated and enthusiastic preparation the young cast delivered two nights of outstanding performances that featured impressive acting, singing and live music.

The show was a memorable experience that was met with enthusiastic applause and praise from the audience on both nights – and a special performance for the entire school saw pupils and staff travel by train to Margate to celebrate the achievements of the Year 6 team.

The production was organised and directed by the Year 6 team, who worked tirelessly alongside the children to create an ambitious performance in a professional theatre setting.

Assistant Head of School Ross Kettle showered the performers and support crew with praise. He said: “It was an absolute pleasure to see the children grow in confidence throughout the rehearsal process and then take to such a large stage with incredible energy, talent and professionalism.

“Every child played their part in making the production a huge success and created memories that will stay with them for many years."

Head of School Darci Arthur described the performances as ‘truly spectacular’. She added: “We are incredibly proud of every child who demonstrated courage, commitment and teamwork. The confidence and talent on display were inspirational, and the audience was thoroughly entertained from start to finish."

Upton Juniors is part of the Viking Academy Trust with partner schools Chilton Primary and Ramsgate Arts Primary.
